Yellow Doll/Small Child Chair

This sweet little antique chair was literally in pieces! One of the small dowel shaped rods was broken, and another was missing. The seat was in tatters-unusable. I took the woven seat off, sanded and repaired the rest of the chair, then painted it a soft yellow with some fun floral designs. I love the turquoise, greens, yellows, and a bit of red in the flowers!

Then I decided on a simple woven pattern for the seat. I attached the sides and back with a staple gun for added security, but the sizing of this chair is really more for a large doll or several small ones.

This chair can be personalized for your child for lots of play time fun! Contact me at shannon@coffeycreations for you own custom made items or check out some of my premade items at my etsy shop!

Forest Rocking Chair for Wild Bird Rescue

We became acquainted with the nice folks of Wild Bird Recovery after one of our kitties got to a fledgling bird as it was just learning to fly. Poor little birdie! We wanted to help him, but weren’t sure how. We called the local vets offices and finally one referred us to Wild Bird Recovery. We went in with our little baby bird and met Beth, a local volunteer who donates her time and her heart to helping wild birds.

Sadly, our little birdie did not survive. We learned that early spring through early fall is when the baby birds hatch and attempt to fly from their nests. The babies may not be able to fly well and usually stay close to where they land. The mother does not try to take the little fledgling back to the nest but brings him or her food and waits patiently to see the little birdie eventually fly away. So, this time of the year is the time that the baby birds are at their most vulnerable.

We wanted to help Wild Bird Rescue and thank them for their continued efforts in helping the birds in our area. So, I decided to donate a handpainted children’s rocking chair for auction at their yearly fundraiser. I put lots of birdies-some in flight, some in nests, lots of other woodland animals are hiding amongs the trees and branches. You will even see a bees nest and lots of honey bees flying around.

Thank you again Beth for all that you continue to do!

Paris Painting for Grandma

Grandma wanted to share her passion of Paris with her family-especially the grand kids! And what a trip it was! With Grandma as a personal tour guide (a retired French teacher and fluent in French) we got to see and learn so much about Paris! From the Eiffel Tower to the church of  the Sacre Coeur and lots more.

I was able to snap this pic of the grandkids imitating the street performers by pretending to be statues in front of the Sacre Coeur. Grandma got a kick out of her grandchildren being so darn cute and imaginative-and, of course, LOVING  Paris!

I’ve included two pics of the painting and one of the original picture.

Thank you Grandma and Grandpa for the trip of a lifetime. Eloise, we hope you enjoy your painting for your birthday!  We love you!

Kitty Mirror and Shelf for Sophia

Little Sophia LOVES kitties! So, when I saw this shelf with the white kitty on it, I knew I had to get it and paint it to coordinate with Sophie’s floral room. Sophie’s Daddy had gotten a good luck Asian cat bank to give her on her first birthday. So, I painted the kitty on the shelf to resemble her special kitty bank from her father.  The flowers are handpainted to coordinate with Sophia’s bedding in her room, with bright pinks, oranges, and lots of greens.

Happy 1st Birthday little Sophia!

Door signs-Wooden handcrafted and handpainted

Camilla’s room is all pinks and ivories and some white. Her room is done in damaskish prints and very feminine! I struggled thinking of what type of  door sign to make her, when it came to me to continue the damaskish print in the form of a frame onto a plaque with her name in the center. A formal, yet girlie, sign as a prelude to the girlieness within!

Lyla’s door sign is made to coordinate with her princess bedding from PBK. I sketched this scene from the bedding onto the wood, cut it out, sanded it, primed and then painted on the little princess, frog, birds and the rest of the scenes. Lyla’s name is painted at the bottom of the castle in the clouds!

Sophia’s Name Canvas

Sophia’s room has a lovely pale yellow picket fence with flowers painted on her walls. This little “window” will continue the theme with two little blue birds carrying her name through the sky!

Happy Birthday Sophia!

Brynn’s step stool

Check out this cutie making great use of her custom step stool! Brynn had definite ideas about what she wanted-she loved a little cake that she had seen with lime and lemon stripes with hot pink fun dots and yellow and white daisies on it! She didn’t want her name on it, but relented to a fun Dr. Seuss saying for underneath the bottom step. “With your head full of brains and your shoes full of feet you’re too smart to go down any not so good street!” I love it!

Hope you’re having lots of fun with your step stool Brynn!

Doll sized school desk-hand painted

This little treasure of a school desk has wrought iron scrollwork on it’s sides and a nice warm stain on the wood desk top and seat back. I hand painted an autumn scene with a little representation of pooh bear under the tree on the desk top. The seat back shows a limb with fall leaves and a mommy bird standing watch over her nest of eggs, and the front panel of the desk shows a little squirrel guarding his acorns amidst some fallen leaves.

Whatever little dollie gets this special school desk is sure to be spoiled rotten! She even has a little area to store her mini books or supplies.

3D Wooden Letters

I have been wanting to do these little wooden letters for ages. They are hand drawn, then cut out using a scroll saw and a drill to start the holes. These are perfect for learning your letters-upper and lower case (which most blocks, for some reason, only have the upper case letters), and are great for learning to form words and learning the sounds as well, of course if you want to really improve your learning you could learn how to use subconscious mind power to change your life in every aspect not just learning! We still intend to paint the letters, but we’ve already begun to play with them!!!

Peacock Painting

This peacock painting was done for Aunt Lori. She loves the blues and greens and the peacock offset a bit. This painting is done in layers of acrylic paint and permanent markers for a bit of a 3D effect. Enjoy Aunt Lori!
