This round picnic table and rounded benches are too much fun-each bench sits two children or an adult comfortably. The adorable “kiwi” mini table umbrella I found at Lowes for less than 15$ (not including the stand). The table was cut using a jig saw after drawing out my circle (I made a makeshift compass with a pencil and string attached to the middle of the wouldbe table with a nail). I used a hole saw for the middle of the table, to allow the umbrella to fit neatly through. The benches were made using two approximately 24 inch 4X6’s-cutting one through the middle in a half circle, the circle with the concave half made the inside part of the bench, and the convex part made the outside of the bench (with a whole 24 inch piece sandwiched in between the other two). I used 12 inch 4X10’s to make the legs of the benches, and eight 22 inch 4X6’s to make up the four legs of the table. I used a deck stain in the color of “Forest Floor” to stain and seal the table and benches making it ready for lots of outdoor use. I love that this little table and benches are so sturdy and durable-my little guys have already gotten lots of use out of them! Every play house needs it’s own address-just like Mom and Dad’s house! This house number was meant to be a replica of the one on the “real” house. The play one, though, is cut from a spare piece of plywood, sanded, and hand painted. The original was a gift from Aunt Carolyn and Uncle John years ago. Thank you again, guys! As you can tell, we have enjoyed it and are enjoying it still! For your own hand made kids art e-mail me at shannon@coffeycreationsforkids.com !
My little guys love to be just like Daddy! If Daddy’s lawn mower has a grass catcher-his needs one too! This little project was pretty easy to do, I bent up some wire hangers into a frame and used duct tape to cover any ends of the hangers, then covered it with an outdoor sturdy material and attached it to the frame by folding the edges around the wire and using fabric tac (fabric glue). The catcher has a portion of the wire exposed to hang it right onto the lawn mower handle, this makes it extra easy to take on and off. (I think I may add a bit of velcro to hold the bottom of the catcher closer to the mower so it doesn’t drag behind-photo to be added later!!) We have already filled the catcher with lots and lots of “helicopters” and emptied it out into a garbage bag. Leonard is thrilled that he has his very own grass catcher-just like Daddy!!! Oh my! I LOVED doing this project! A mini tent to match Hampton’s own Circus tent! Plus a lion, a step stool for him to leap through his ring of fire on, and the ringmaster himself! I hope Hampton will have lots of fun with his circus themed toys that match his room’s theme and bedding! The mini tent has Hampton’s monogram hand embroidered above the little door in a back stitch. The tent also has a little flag on top and a circle window in the back-just like Hampton’s big one! The lion is made of a supersoft tan suede with an ivory fur on the alternate side. The lion’s mane is the ivory fur, while his little face, body, and tail are the tan suede with tufts of the ivory fur on his feet, tail and around his face. The ring of fire is made of a soft white muslin and the fire is hand painted onto the material. The base of the ring of fire has stuffing and a bit of rice to keep it standing for lots of fun pretend play! The ring’s shape is kept by using a bit of covered stem wire, and the base of the ring is covered in material that coordinates with the tent. The ring master has hand embroidery accents for his facial features, he has a satin bow tie to go with his tux and tails! The ring master also has a dark brown satin rimmed top hat, cuffed pants, a flower on his tux jacket and he himself is made of a soft pill resistant ivory fleece. This tree has lots of “hidden” shelves for books, toys, stuffed animals, whatever little Sam wants to put in it! It also has a “burrow hole” at the base of the trunk for a bunnny-or in this case Pooh Bear, and another hole midway up the trunk-where there’s an owl peeking out! Some of the shelves are parallel to the floor, others are slightly skewed with edging at the end to help stack all of those board books of miscellaneous sizes. There are also several “cuphooks” to hang fun things from the branches-like the birdhouse! This tree was sketched by hand, cut, sanded and hand painted just for little Sam. The tree is painted varying shades of brown with some ivory and light moss greens to emulate moss growing on the branches, there are even a few “broken limb” spots. I’m sure Sam will have lots of fun playing with his animals in his tree in his nature inspired bedroom! For your own custom children’s items e-mail me at shannon@coffeycreationsforkids.com !
For all of you Sandra Boynton fans-this is a must have! Your very own mini hippo with his own “Bee-Bo”! He also has the little wagon shown in the Belly Button book. This little wagon has little Aldo’s name on the back hand embroidered in triple french knots in bright green, yellow and orange. The hippo also has hand embroidered accents-the eyes, nose and belly button are worked in french knots, back stitches and straight stitches. The hippo and his wagon are made of a soft fleece for cuddling and washability. Have a great 1st birthday Aldo!

This little bear is made of a soft white muslin and has hand embroidered features. The eyes are worked in a straight stitch, the eyebrows are worked in a backstitch as are the ear and paw accents. The little pleated dress is made from one of Claudia’s own daddy’s shirts. What a great keepsake, not to mention snuggly fun! These baby name blocks show off some of the baby’s bedding (the white with blue print), a soft pink chenille, a soft baby blue, a soft ultra cuddle fleece white, a cuddle fleece with fun bumps, and of course a soft baby pink. What a fun way to show off your baby’s name, and they’re filled with soft stuffing so they’ll be easy for a little one to pick up and fun to play with! If you haven’t read any of the Skippyjon Jones books-you really should put them on your list! I mean, a naughty siamese cat who likes to pretend that he’s a chiuaua?! They are a riot for adults as well as children. My four year old has fallen in love with Skippyjon and wanted to make him a “King Hat”, pants and a pillow. Talk about a fun way to make reading come to life! David made his own king hat out of scraps of faux leather by taping it onto Skippyjon, he also made a little outfit for him. Unfortunately, he also decided to decorate his own face with markers the same day……Anyway, the next day he wanted to make a real king hat with jewels! So, we cut out a bit of cardboard, fit it to Skippyjon’s head (cut out some wedges for those big ears), and David glued on jewels and glitter. Mommy made the pants and the pillow with some scraps of material and, of course, personalized the pillow for Skippy. Next, the Skippyjon bed-with a mattress and his own special blankie. (In the book he gets wrapped up as a burrito in his little white blankie!) The bed is fashioned out of cardboard and spray painted a dark brown and has a secret compartment underneath to hide secret stuff in! Then, of course, we had to make Skippy his very own house. We named it Le Casa Purrito (from the book where the chiuaua’s carried the “Purrito” all the way back to his room!), and painted it in fun green colors to match his cape. Skippy’s cardboard house has two balconies, a lot of windows, a door with his very own doorknob, and even a little doghouse up on the roof. The roof has a “skylight” to allow my little guys to climb in and out and the back of the building is open on the bottom half for lots of fun play. Oh, the fun things you can do with cardboard boxes! Check out this fun website for lots of fun Skippy games and information about his books! This couch just about made it to the curb. I was about to toss it out, when my husband said “Can’t you just iron something on it?” “Hmmmm,” I thought, “I think I can!” I had already tried making a vinyl “slipcover” but couldn’t figure out how to keep it in place, so I bagged that idea. Using my husband’s brilliant idea, I made a new slipcover (one that could be ironed). Then, after I was finished I ironed on this heat bond stuff (basically a double sided fusible webbing) to the wrong side of the fabric. After it was in place and cooled off I peeled off the paper backing, positioned the slipcover as perfectly and snugly as possible (I used a staple gun to affix the material to the bottom of the couch) then I ironed it right onto the couch. The lady at the fabric store said she didn’t know if it would work or not-but it did! It’s holding up to three active boys (and a Daddy) and looks 100% better! Next, I’m going to tackle our kid sized chair-they just love the kid sized furniture.
