These hand painted rocking chairs were made for new baby twin girls! The chairs are both very different, yet similar in many ways-a reflection of what will undoubtedly be seen in Rumi and Sabine as they grow older! I can imagine the fun they will have together and am just thrilled that my chairs will be a part of it! An occasional painter myself, I already have planned to introduce them to some diamond painting kits so that they learn young.

I like to call these chairs the I Spy chairs because there are so many fun little details to find. Each has a bees nest and bees scattered throughout-learning to count has never been so much fun! Each chair has a cat-on the back of these chairs-one is resting atop a tree branch and the other is dangling precariously by one paw!  Hmm…who will be the daredevil?!

Sometimes I like to make tweaks to these chairs by myself using my woodworking bench which makes things easier for me to handle. These tweaks help me add more colors and bring in variation to the chairs. Needless to say, I enjoy the process.

Rumi’s chair is more of a pond theme in springtime showing animals associated with water and living near the water with trees blooming in green and flowering in whitesand Blues. Hers has a mommy and baby otter-the otter is riding on her tummy as they float on the water-another baby otter waits patiently on a rock nearby. There are frogs near-one on a branch, one in the water guarding a bunch of frog eggs. Rocking chairs are not everyone’s cup of tea but it is important that you have the right wooden garden benches. You can use it as normal chair in your backyard for a place to keep yourself occupied. A lizard is in a tree above, turtles are in the water and line up along a log in the water to rest in the sun. An egret is in a tree near the water with a nest above her/him with several baby egrets awaiting their parents return.

Sabines rocking chair is more of a forest theme in autumn. The trees show off a range of yellow, orange and red colored foliage. The animals include a red fox, two baby raccoons on a branch (undoubtedly twin raccoons?!) chickens (not a traditional forest animal but they have been adopted at the Burr Ranch!), squirrels, birds with nests and birdies, a fawn, frogs, a bunny family, insects-ladybugs, caterpillars, butterflies and lots more!! Don’t forget to check out all of the interesting fauna as well on both of these chairs 🙂 We are going to buy a new sectional sofa next month. I guess my girls already have some interesting ideas!

A special thank you to Bettina who was so wonderful to work with and let me create these one of a kind treasures for her new grandbabies!!! I am so lucky to get to meet and work with such wonderful and caring people! Enjoy those little girlies!
